Nestled in the extreme southeast corner of Nebraska is the charming rural community of Falls City with a vibrant arts scene. As “The Gateway to the Good Life” Falls City’s location makes it a great day or weekend trip being less than 2 hours from Kansas City, St. Joseph, Omaha, and Lincoln.
Along Stone Street in bustling downtown Falls City, you will find a variety of galleries and museums, restaurants and bars, clothing boutiques, home décor stores, antique shops, a historic but modern hotel and a variety of service businesses. Once a stop on the Underground Railroad, you will now find many community events, festivals, parades, live music, farmers’ market, night life and more.
In 2019 Falls City was proclaimed a “City of Art”. It has been said on many occasions by people outside the area that there must be something in the water here in Falls City. We have a rich history of artists, musicians, writers, and philanthropists. A large part of that history resides at the Falls City Library and Arts Center in the Stalder Gallery. For over 120 years art has been donated and purchased for the viewing pleasure of the patrons of Falls City and Richardson County. Falls City is also home to the John P. Falter Museum, the Richardson County Historical Museum and Heartland Fine Arts, showing works from current area artists.
